Avery Onsel
Joining the team with the philosophy of ‘fun first, balance later’ that seems to work surprisingly well (though balance is still important!), Avery gained the extremely coveted and not-made-up position of “Vibemaster”. It more or less covers the idea of fitting mechanics to visions of what seem cool; again, ‘fun first’ design, which contrasts and complements Michael’s eye for balance. (In reality, this Avery person has no clue what they’re doing half of the time, and is only here because some people seem to have gotten it into their heads that there is a source of quality content lurking somewhere in there. Don’t tell anyone.)
Much more a player than a DM, Avery’s favorite part of D&D, thanks to the blessing of having an excellent group of friends and fellow D&D enjoyers, is now watching characters form relationships and goals; and doing cool things while they do it, of course. Cursed with the unique ability to crash any play-by-post game, DAvery understandably prefers to play in real time, whether that’s in person or on a virtual tabletop. As a fairly frequent playtester, not just designer, that real-time environment is a favorite place to talk about design and play experience afterwards.
Avery’s experience with D&D is mainly 5th edition, but some failed attempts playing in 3.5 served as an initial introduction to the official tabletop game, and there are even touches of childhood D&D-esque games before that. After all, creativity and imagination are an important part of life, no matter the age.
Thus the Vibemaster decrees.
